Inventory
The inventory in our rooms varies slightly depending on what building or what kind of room you're in. However, the following items are always included in the inventory:
* bed including mattress
* table or desk and chair
* wardrobe or clothes horse
* bookcase or bookshelves
* curtains or venetian blinds
* ceiling lamp, table lamp and bedlamp
Checking in
Upon receipt of the keys you have signed an inventory list. The items on this list should be present in the room and in good condition. Check the inventory list after your arrival in the unit.
Missing or damaged items
If a unit is not clean or if items are missing and/or damaged when you move in, you should inform the caretakers of this within two weeks after receiving the keys to your unit. The caretakers will see to it that the problem is corrected or they will make a note on the inventory list.
Old couches, chairs and other furniture that are found in the street are often invested with bugs. Do not take them inside!
Cleaning
Your room
All our rooms receive a standard cleaning-up before a new tenant arrives. If your room appears not to have been cleaned when you arrive, then please contact the caretakers as soon as possible.
Communal kitchens and bathrooms
The tenants have a shared responsibility for cleaning the communal kitchen/communal room and the communal shower and/or toilet. The caretakers and/or residence assistants will check the cleaning performance of the tenants and, if necessary, will confront you with your responsibilities.
In case tenants of a certain unit neglect to clean their communal facilities, De Key will hire a professional cleaning company and charge the costs made for the cleaning to all tenants living in that department.
Cleaning company
If you share a kitchen between 5 tenants or more, the communal kitchen and hallway floors are cleaned by a cleaning company on a regular basis. Please note that the cleaning company is not responsible for tidying up or doing the dishes and that they can only do their work if you have tidied up and done your dishes!
In most buildings, professional cleaners clean the general hallways, the entrance(s) and the staircase(s) of the building. If you have comments about this regular cleaning, please contact the caretakers.
