As with any capital city, Amsterdam has its share of pests such as rats, mice and cockroaches. Whilst it is impossible to exterminate this problem completely, there are some simple guidelines to ensure you reduce the risks of infestation.
- Keep the kitchen area clean and store food in boxes
- Garbage should be contained effectively and disposed of regularly in the correct way.
- Do not bring in old couches or other furniture of the street. They are often infested with bugs!
If you should spot any signs of pests, do not panic, but report this immediately to the caretaker.
