Rules for room change

Strict rules
Because of the limited supply of rooms for Short Stay tenants, we apply very strict rules concerning requests for relocation

When can I apply for a change of rooms?

  • If you want to move from a single room to a shared room
  • If you want to move from a shared room to a single room during the semester change
  • If you have a report from the police, a doctor or the student counsellor indicating the necessity for you to move to another room
  • If you have found another student that you want to swap rooms with. Please note that both of you have to stay in a room from Short Stay Facilities and the duration of the lease agreement is the same
  • Please note that you contact the faculty if they pay for the rent of your room
  • Please note that even if you have requested for a change of rooms according to the rules mentioned above, it still depends on the availability

For changing rooms we will charge you  € 50,00 administration fee

Please note that Short Stay Facilities has the right to deny a change of room

Moving elsewhere

Moving to a room outside De Key and ending your lease agreement with De Key before the end of the semester (or the ending date stated under article 2.1 in the lease agreement) is not possible.

Exceptions

If you do not fulfil the conditions mentioned above but you think you have urgent reasons to request relocation, please make an appointment with the housing officer of your faculty. The housing officer of your faculty will advise you whether there are enough reasons to visit the student counsellor. Only with the approval of the student counsellor will we try to find you other accommodation.
